Okonomiyaki is a Japanese dish originating from Kansai, Osaka. Often described as a “Japanese-style pizza”, this delightful dish is a must-try for all. Wheat flour is dissolved in water and mixed with Japanese yams and cabbage, before being grilled with thin slices of pork. Not only is it delicious, the okonomiyaki is also healthy as it contains a generous amount of cabbage. In Japan, okonomiyaki can be enjoyed not only in restaurants but also at yatai stalls (street food stalls).

The secret to the quality of Tsuruhashi Fugetsu’s okonomiyaki lies in its preparation process. Great attention is given to ensure the okonomiyaki is of the best quality. As the amount of moisture in cabbage differs depending upon the season, the way the cabbage is cut changes with every season to maintain the refreshing taste and crunchy texture.

Tsuruhashi Fugetsu’s signature Japanese savoury pancakes are made with fresh cabbage, yakisoba (fried egg noodles) and an assortment of battered meat and seafood. It is then grilled a la minute, slathered in Worcestershire sauce as well as mayonnaise and topped with bonito flakes. For the yakisoba, Tsuruhashi Fugetsu works in tandem with a factory in Singapore to ensure they are made accordingly to the brand’s traditional recipe.

The result is a super crispy exterior with a fluffy inside. The pancakes are also served the traditional Japanese way — atop individual teppanyaki plates. This ensures that the pancakes remain sizzling hot throughout the entire enjoyment.
